
Learn to sew your own clothes
Join local seamstress and sewing teacher in our beginner dressmaking class, where over the course of 6 weeks you’ll learn how to make a pair of elasticated pants with pockets.
This is a perfect beginner friendly project and these classes will give you everything you need to confidently start your garment sewing journey.
You will learn how to:
- Read a commercial pattern
- Choose the correct fabric for your project
- Lay out your pattern pieces
- Transfer markings from your pattern
- Interpret and follow the sewing instructions
- Sew elastic
- Cut fabric
Whatβs included:
- 12 hours over 6 weeks of professional tuition
- Class notes and helpful handouts
- Light refreshments (gluten free and plant based)
You will need to bring/supply:
- Your sewing machine – please makes sure it’s in working condition and / or recently serviced. Machines are available to hire for $10 for the duration of your class
- Your instruction manual if you have it
- Your pattern. We’ll advise you of some good options before the first class
- Fabric for your project. This will be discussed after booking
- Scissors, pins, thread, bobbins, sewing machine needles (these may be purchased in store)
- A notebook, pen or pencil
Skill Level: Beginner Must know how to thread your machine and confidently sew basic stitches.
