This is a follow on from “Introduction to Silversmithing” class and it is recommended that you have previous soldering experience for this workshop
During this 5 hour workshop over 2 weeks, you will learn how to set a cabochon stone and I take you into more texturing techniques with rolled metal embossing so that you can create your own hand embossed design on the back side of your cabochon setting.
You might like to attach your cabochon setting to a ring, or you could attach a bail to wear your cabochon as a pendant. You will certainly put your soldering skills to practice in this class.
You will learn:
- What is a cabochon?
- Alternative items that can be set
- Construction of a simple bezel setting
- All about the rolling mill
- How to use templates and make them yourself
- How to emboss metals
- Types of found objects that can be used for embossing

You will need to bring/supply:
- Earplugs / ear protection – this is a noisy class and ear protection is highly recommended
- A cabochon stone – a small selection will be available to purchase on the day but if you have any questions about what to bring, please get in touch
