Join master pattern maker Christine O’Toole in this 3 day workshop and start your pattern drafting journey.
Over the course of 2 full days, you’ll draft your very own dress block from scratch, using the Pattern Drafter System, and then learn the beginning skills to design perfectly fitting dresses and tops, including sleeves and collars.
Course Outline:
Day 1:
- Accurate measuring
- Getting to know your ruler and workbook
- All about sizing
- How to draft your base dress and sleeve block
- Start your muslin / mock up
Day 2:
- Finish your first muslin / mock up
- Fitting & modification changes
- Draft your final block including all of the modifications
- Design a dress from your block
- Guided instructions for other garment designs
Included in the workshop:
- 2 full days of professional tuition with an industry expert pattern drafter
- Use of The Pattern Drafter Ruler and Workbook – These will also be available to purchase separately ($195)
- Pattern making card and paper
- 3m of calico for your mockups
- Pens and pencils for drafting
- Morning and afternoon tea (gluten free & vegan)
What to bring:
- Your sewing machine – Please make sure your machine is in good working order
- Yard / Meter stick or quilting ruler
- Pins, tape measure, scissors, glue & thread
- Your lunch
- Notebook and pen
Skill Level:
This course is beginner friendly. No previous experience is required, however:
- You must have solid sewing skills and understand how to read sewing patterns
